Club Update

Hello everyone!
We are starting up our regular Club nights next week! Club nights will run every Monday and Wednesday evening from 7:00PM to 9:00 PM. Don’t forget that you can still come out sooner and stay later as you have 24/7 access to the range! We will also be running a Traditional Only Night on Thursday evenings from 8:00PM to 10:00PM.

We will be installing a sign-in and sign-out book just inside the door to your right as you enter. Please look for the book and make sure you enter your name, your membership number, the date, the time you entered the range, and the time you left for every visit. This is for insurance and security purposes.

If the heat is down (at about 17-18 degrees) when you enter the range, feel free to turn up the heat while you shoot but help us out by remembering to turn it back down to18 degrees when you exit the range to help us keep heating costs down.

We would like to let everyone know that we will be holding our annual general meeting at the range (a 30 minute meeting only) on Wednesday, January 20th from 7:00 to 7:30. This meeting is traditionally poorly attended but we really hope to see as many of our members as possible at this meeting. We would like to give everyone a brief update on where the Club is at and some of the things we would like to do as well as hear from you about what you would like to see as a Club member. Yes, we also hope some of you will consider volunteering to help us out with the Executive as there are not that many of us and we could really use a few extra hands to help out with some of the things we would like to do for the Club. More hands make for light work and the ability to do so much more for the Club. For example, we would love to have a volunteer to help with managing scores for our league shoot!

If you haven’t already got your membership for 2016, please go to our website and purchase it online. The access codes will change as of January 31st and we hope to see you back for 2016. We are also hoping each of you can help to spread the word about our new indoor range. Our Club is the only year round, indoor/outdoor shooting facility in the Edmonton Region. Our membership fees are the most affordable in the region and you won’t get a better deal anywhere as an archer who wants to be able to shoot at any time of the year, regardless of the weather! We want to build our membership back up to 400 members and we need your help to get us there..

We have placed information on the white board in the range about upcoming events so that you have an idea of what is happening there on various dates and times. We will be putting this information onto a calendar on our website too so keep an eye out there for a calendar that you can check to see if anything is scheduled at the range before you head out so you don’t want to arrive to find an event already underway with an already crowded shooting line.

If you aren’t already aware, we do run a Juniors Archery Program every Saturday morning from 9:00 AM to 12:00PM (except on long weekends).

Thank you everyone and we hope to see you soon on Club nights for some socializing and some fun competition if you are also interested in a league shoot in the New Year!

On behalf or your 2015 Executive
Doug Bowes
President, SPAC

P.S. Please remember that the washroom facility is not ready yet. If you don’t want to use the green prat potty out in the parking lot by the fence, you may want to plan ahead and make an effort to avoid the need to use this “interim” facility!

The Indoor Range Has Heat

We would just like to clarify that, yes, the indoor range is heated! There was some delays getting the gas connected, but all is good now and the range is fully heated 24/7 for your shooting pleasure.
